Departments Newsletter Januray 2011

Thanks to Mrs. Campbell who agreed at the last minute, drove four Skills Canada competitors to Georgian College we were able to participate in the Skills Canada Qualifying round in Barrie.  Congratulations to the 2D Character Animation team of Bill Owens and Anne Cairns who placed 1st overall and will advance to the provincial finals in Waterloo.  Bill Campbell and Kaleigh Johnston won a certificate of merit for scoring over 75% on their bullying film for the TV/Video competition.  Chris Simon and Christina Beeton created a very impressive animation
but did not place top three this year. 
Congrats to all competitors on your efforts and for taking advantage of this "reach ahead" opportunity!!

Construction is complete for our new Tech Wing!
The new space enhances both programs and will mean that our students will be exposed to more skills. Currently, we are meeting with community partners to set up a Specialist High Skills Major in manufacturing.
