Home Work
Students are expected to complete homework assignments to assist with their academic success. Completing homework on time is part of the student's role and responsibilities. Expected Behaviour
Students are expected to complete all homework by its assigned date. Students benefit from home study.
If students have completed their daily assignments, they should review, practice, improve their notes, memorize or complete further reading.
Reasons for Expected Behaviour
Homework is an essential part of the learning process at school.
Concepts at school are reinforced through study. Homework is students' practice time.
Students should inform their teachers of homework problems before class.
Consequences of Misbehaviour
Incomplete homework may result in detentions, alternate assignments, or home contact by teachers.
Persistent neglect of homework may seriously jeopardize students' grades, and even their credit standing.
Math Homework Help
In the fall of 2011, the Ministry of Education and the Independent Learning Centre launched
Homework Help, online mathematics support for students in grades 7 through 10. Homework help offers:
Interactive mathematics tutorials
Listen and learn videos
A mathematics glossary
An online scientific calculator
Access to one-on-one tutoring offered by Ontario certified mathematics teachers
Homework help is free, anonymous, and available to students 24/7. Tutors are online to assist students from Sunday to Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tutoring takes places in chat rooms, which are monitored by the Independent Learning Centre, and all chats are reviewed daily.
Students can self-register. To register, students will need their Ontario Educational Number (OEN), found on his/her report card. Parents and guardians are also welcome to create guest accounts. As a guest, you can access the site's resources, but you will not be able to ask questions to tutors.
For more information on Homework Help, you can contact the Principal, the students' classroom teacher or Marcy D'Alessandro, Student Achievement Consultant, at 705-748-4861 extension 168.
